As of April 2024, we can offer our Mental Health Day Service in partnership with Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams (CRHTT) within Gloucestershire, providing support for individuals at risk of or experiencing acute emotional distress. Additionally, we offer free counselling services for those dealing with self-harm and self-injury. Partnership Working:
Alexandra Wellbeing House is a parternship project between Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind (S&G Mind) and Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (GHC NHS FT).

What is the Alexandra Wellbeing House?
Located in the heart of Gloucester, we provide a non-clinical, Mental Health day service programme rooted in the 5 Ways to Wellbeing Model: Connect, Take Notice, Keep Learning, Be Active, and Give. Additionally, we offer guidance to connect individuals with suitable local agencies. Our person-centred approach acknowledges that individuals are the experts in their own lives. We strive to empower and support individuals in making positive changes to enhance their wellbeing.
How Can I Access the Alexandra Wellbeing House?
We’re currently only able to receive direct referrals from Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams (CRHTT) within Gloucestershire. If you are a professional from one of these teams, please complete a referral form and send back to [email protected].
What are the Opening Hours of the Alexandra Wellbeing House?
We are open Tuesday – Friday between 9AM and 6PM.

What is our Self-Harm and Self-Injury Counselling?
We offer a 1:1 confidential and non-judgemental counselling service in a safe environment for people who are actively self harming and self injuring.
How Can I Access the Self-Harm and Self-Injury Counselling?
To access this provision, a person will need to have completed the 2-week support programme at Alexandra Wellbeing House Service first. If counselling is identified as a need during this time, the team will make a referral with the person’s consent.
What are the Opening ours of the Self-Harm and Self-Injury Counselling?
The slots offered will be dependent on the availability of the person and the Counsellor but will fall within standard operational hours of the service (Tuesday-Friday, 9am-6pm).

People self-harm and self-injure for a number of reasons and do so to cope with deep distress which cannot be articulated verbally. It might be a result of something they have done or had done to them or because of issues they cannot cope with, there is no rule of thumb.

What support do you provide?
We are dedicated to working closely with individuals who are at risk of or are actively experiencing acute emotional distress. Our model offers a short-term day programme (8 days over a 2-week period) that focuses on strengths based, proactive interventions and person-centred therapy-based approaches to empower individuals on their journey towards improved mental health and wellbeing. We offer a welcoming day service where individuals can access tailored support that aligns with their unique needs and goals. Whether you’re seeking immediate crisis intervention, ongoing self-harm/self-injury counselling, or a community connection to additional resources, our team is here to help.
What is the Five Ways to Wellbeing Model?
The Five Ways to Wellbeing Model (New Economics Foundation, NEF, 2008) is an evidence-based model which includes five key messages around social relationships, physical activity, awareness, learning and giving. This has been spilt into:
1) Connect
2) Be Active
3) Take Notice
4) Keep Learning
5) Give
I’m looking for counselling and/or therapy, is this something that you offer?
Yes, we are able to offer self harm and self injury counselling for those who receive support from our service. If you are interested in receiving this support, please let a member of our team know.
How much support would I receive?
You would complete a series of day programme workshops with others who are going through similar experiences to yourself. You would also then have the opportunity to receive 1:1’s with our decidated team to help manage and shape your welbeing plan moving forwards. Our day programme ranges starts as a minimum of 6 days at our service.

I’m currently self-harming, am I still able to receive support from your service?
Yes, regardless of whether you are self-harming or not, we will support you in the best way we can. We have a duty of care to maintain your safety whilst at the service, so will contact emergency services if urgent medical attention is required.
I’m experiencing suicidal thoughts; can I still receive support from your service?
I have suicidal thoughts with active plans, can I receive support from your service?
We would recommend that you contact support services that can support you in this time of need immediately. As the Alexandra Wellbeing House Service is a day service, it is important that you can keep yourself safe outside of these hours.
